CHARLOTTE — An hours-long standoff came to an end Thursday night in west Charlotte, according to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Just before 3:30 p.m., deputies attempted to serve two warrants and execute a domestic violence eviction at a home in the Reid Meadows community.
It appeared that the suspect had barricaded himself inside the home.

However, around 8:20 p.m., deputies learned the suspect they were looking for wasn’t inside the residence.
This revelation came after residents waited hours to get back into their houses.
Channel 9′s Glenn Counts spoke to frustrated neighbors about the incident.
“I’ve been waiting since 4 p.m. got off from work and the whole street was blocked with cops,” said resident Sonya Peterson.
“My feet are cold and my stomach is starving. I want to get home, get something to eat, and lie on my bed. It’s so cold, man,” said resident Si Dieu.
Deputies said the suspect must have escaped before they arrived. However, when they find them, they will be arrested.
