CHARLOTTE — A state trooper involved in a chase early Friday crashed in a north Charlotte neighborhood early Friday, according to the Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 12:15 a.m. on Vanderbilt Road and Woodward Avenue, near Statesville Road and Graham Street.

Investigators said the trooper tried to stop a speeding car on Interstate 77, but the driver would not stop. The pursuit went onto I-85 and then Graham Street before the trooper crashed into a pole.
The trooper was treated on the scene, but not seriously hurt, officials said.
The suspect that was being chased got away.
