CHARLOTTE — As the rapid pace of development in South End continues to reshape the city’s skyline and its office real estate market, more high-profile companies are choosing to put down roots in that area. And that, in turn, has pushed price tags in the booming submarket above those found even in the central business district.

That’s the gist of a ranking out this week from Property Shark that looks at the top 100 most expensive office submarkets nationwide.
Charlotte’s Midtown-South End submarket comes in at No. 33 in the national ranking with office properties there selling last year for an average of $464 per square foot. That makes it the most expensive submarket in North Carolina.
The Charlotte CBD submarket, meanwhile, lands at No. 43 in the ranking with an average price per square foot of $414 on office sales last year.
