South Carolina woman tied up with Christmas lights, fatally beaten, police say

GREENVILLE, S.C. — A man and a woman have been charged with killing a woman they were living with in South Carolina, tying her up with Christmas lights and beating her, authorities said.

The body of Carolyn Jackson was found in a shallow grave about 5 miles from her Honea Path home on March 24, Greenville County deputies said.

Jackson was attacked by her roommates, Amanda Marie Scott and Denardis Jamont Kilgo on March 14. They tied her up with Christmas lights and tape and wrapped her in a way that restricted her breathing, according to arrest warrants.

Jackson died after being beaten, deputies said.

Investigators said they haven't determined why the pair killed Jackson.

Scott, 36, and Kilgo, 39, are charged with murder and kidnapping and remain in jail. Court records did not list lawyers for them.
