LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — Amid concerns of violence in schools, South Carolina schools talked to Channel 9 about their current safety measures in place to protect students.

Lancaster County Schools said the district proactively searches for guns and drugs using K-9s and metal detectors to conduct random searches at middle and high schools. Chester County, Rock Hill, and Clover schools also conduct random searches throughout the year, while Fort Mill schools said they only perform searches of students when a reasonable suspicion has been provided.

>> In the video above, reporter Tina Terry talks to the Director of Safety and Transportation at Lancaster Schools about the results of these searches and what plans they have to ensure continued safety in schools.
