FLORENCE, S.C. — Family members and neighbors are remembering a South Carolina husband and wife who were killed in a house fire Friday afternoon.
Fire crews in Florence responded to the home.
Geraldine and James Gee Sr. were inside at the time and unable to escape.
A neighbor said she called 911 when she heard the Gees calling for help.
“I didn't know what to do, so I said, ‘God help me.’ Young guys come down the street and say, 'Ms. Johnson, you all right?' I said, ‘No, somebody burning up in there,’" the neighbor said.
Investigators have not said what caused the fire.
