WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. — Five people are dead, including two deputies, following a 13-hour standoff Wednesday at a home in Boone, the sheriff confirmed to Channel 9.
The fallen deputies were identified as Sgt. Chris Ward and K-9 Deputy Logan Fox.

“We’re up, we’re down. We’re doing the ebb and flow things between not understanding, some anger, some where we just end up hugging each other,” Watauga County Sheriff Len Hagaman, Jr. said.
Social media tributes for Ward and Fox, along with support for the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, have poured in.
