CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Business Journal’s latest dive into salary data shows that a wide range of sectors pay local workers, on average, between $80,000 and $85,000 a year.

That includes jobs like statistician, mechanical and industrial engineer, real estate broker and commercial pilot.

The highest-paid occupation in this salary category is that of network and computer systems administrator, which earns workers in the Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia metropolitan statistical area an average of $84,430 annually, according to the latest wage data released this spring by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

When compared to its North Carolina metro counterparts of Raleigh, Durham-Chapel Hill and Greensboro-High Point, that amount lands in the middle. In Durham-Chapel Hill, for instance, a network and computer systems administrator earns an average of $95,930 in annual salary, while that same job pays $91,650 in Raleigh and $82,120 in Greensboro.
