Siemens Mobility picks Lexington for 506-job, $220M rail-car plant

LEXINGTON, N.C. — German industrial company Siemens Mobility plans to build its eastern U.S. rail-car manufacturing center in Lexington, creating 506 jobs and investing $220 million.

The company won approval on Tuesday from the North Carolina Economic Investment Committee for an incentives package totaling about $16.8 million.

In addition, incentives from Davidson County and the city of Lexington come to another $16 million.
