CHARLOTTE — Shots were fired into a home off Park Road hitting a woman while a 10-year-old boy was inside at about 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Residents are concerned.
"I did hear a lot of arguing and gunshots," a mother said.
Charlotte police responded to the Savanna Woods apartments on Lindhall Court where they found a 27-year-old woman seriously injured from a gunshot wound.
She grabbed her 19-month-old daughter and ducked for cover when she heard the gunfire.
Those who live nearby said the shooting victim was arguing with her neighbors before she went back inside an apartment.
One of the neighbors is accused of following her, shooting into the home while the boy inside.
The child wasn't hurt in the spray of bullets.
Some neighbors didn't think something like this would happen.
"I haven't had any problems," Jessica Rueinski said.
This is the only shooting that's happened within a half-mile radius of the apartments within the past six months, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg crime data.
Only two of the 88 crimes listed on the database were violent, which were both assault cases but most of the other crimes were thefts.
"It's kind of scary that it's that close to where I live," Rueinski said.
The Savanna Apartments are listed as Section 8 housing by the city's housing authority.
The apartments were renovated in 2015, according to their website.
No further information has been released regarding the case.
