Bullets riddle homes, cars in Villa Heights 3 times in 2 weeks

CHARLOTTE — Someone fired several shots into a home Sunday night in the Villa heights neighborhood, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

The call went out shortly before 9 p.m. along Umstead Street at Parkwood Avenue.

The home was occupied, and nearby vehicles nearby were also struck by gunfire.

Photos captured evidence markers covering the street.

Daniel, who lives on the street, said he has witnessed three shootings in two weeks.

Four houses and two cars have been hit by gunfire.

“Then after last night, it’s, like, alright, we got to vacate the area,” Daniel said. “It’s not safe.”

There is no suspect information at this time.
