17-year-old killed, 18-year-old shot after argument in Monroe

MONROE, N.C. — The Monroe Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one teenager dead and another hurt late Monday night.

Police said it happened on N. Secrest Avenue around 9:30 p.m.

According to Monroe police, the two victims were in a yard when another group arrived. Police said a verbal argument led up to the shooting.

A 17-year-old was killed in the shooting. He was identified as Jadyn Rowdy of Monroe. The other victim is an 18-year-old who is recovering.

Police said multiple shooters ran away before officers arrived. No descriptions of the suspects were given.
