STATESVILLE, N.C. — Leaders for The Sherwin-Williams Co. celebrated the groundbreaking on its massive Statesville expansion Wednesday morning, calling the occasion “momentous” for the company.
Sherwin-Williams announced its $324 million Statesville expansion earlier this year, a project that is expected to create more than 180 jobs. The project calls for the expansion of its existing 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and the construction of a large new distribution center at Larkin Regional Commerce Park.
Kathleen Szczesniak, senior vice president for Sherwin-Williams, said today that the expansion would make the company’s Statesville manufacturing location its largest one globally. The existing facility will expand by 36,000 square feet and more than double its manufacturing capacity, she said. The new distribution center will be nearly 800,000 square feet.
