Cleveland County deputies were chasing Bradley Gen Mellon, 27, when he drove into Lincoln County. At that point, deputies were called in to assist in the chase, which ended on Howards Creek Mill Road, Lincoln County Sheriff David Carpenter said.
The sheriff said Mellon tried to hide his vehicle behind a house and get away on foot, but deputies managed to apprehend him quickly.
Mellon appeared by video today in court, where an investigator told the judge the house was hit four times.
Police said Mellon fled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, over the weekend before being arrested Wednesday after he led police on three separate high-speed chases.
Investigators said they found numerous weapons and allegations of drugs.
A judge raised Mellon’s bond to $2 million.
Mellon is charged with attempted murder, discharging a firearm into a dwelling and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Channel 9 heard for the first time the officer radio for help after someone opened fire.
"A long truck just went by my house and fired several rounds,” the officer said.
Channel 9 learned the officer had just arrived home after working a 12-hour shift.
After radioing for help, she discovered minutes later that some of the rounds had come through a wall. Her children were home at the time.
Neither the officer nor the two children at home were hit by the gunfire.
