Sheriff: 65-year-old woman dies in Lincolnton house fire

LINCOLNTON, N.C. — A 65-year-old woman died after a house fire Tuesday afternoon in Lincolnton, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire happened at about 5:20 p.m. at a house on Fox Creek Trail, which is southeast of Highway 150.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the burning home and learned that the woman was inside. Firefighters were able to pull her out of the building.

A medical helicopter was called in but she died before it arrived.

The victim hasn’t been identified at this time. It’s not clear if anyone else was in the home when the fire started.

The cause of the fire hasn’t been released.
