SHELBY, N.C. — Channel 9 learned 90 members of a Shelby church tested positive for COVID-19.
Faith Baptist Church leaders said most of the people who tested positive have recovered, but there are a few members in the hospital. Most of the people who contracted the virus showed mild symptoms.

The church reopened in May when the governor allowed it, but it had to close its doors again at the beginning of July when leaders learned of the first case.

Church secretary Janet Poston said most of the cases were reported between July 15 and July 25.
The church said if it does reopen, it will continue to require masks and other safety precautions.
Faith Baptist Church has 600 members.
