Myrtle Beach police are investigating a shooting on Ocean Boulevard, Channel 9 sister station WPDE reported.

The shooting was caught on Facebook Live.

Officers responded around 12:25 a.m Sunday to a report of a large crowd near 5th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard, according to Lt. Joey Crosby, of the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

A security officer shot the suspected shooter, who fled the scene by allegedly carjacking a vehicle. Seven people, including the suspect, were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

A patrol car was struck by bullets, but no officers were hit or injured during the shooting.

A shot grazed a security officer in the leg. He was treated on scene.

Officers did find the car. A suspect has been identified and taken into custody. The suspect's identity will be released once he has been medically cleared and warrants can be served, Lt. Joey Crosby said.

The man who broadcast the incident on Facebook Live told WPDE he started to stream when he noticed a crowd of over 75 people moving down Ocean Boulevard from the rooftop of his hotel.

"The whole scene just turned to chaos in a matter of seconds," Bubba Hinson said.

Hinson's video has been submitted to Myrtle Beach police.
