We’re told the property owner had issues with squatters in the past. It’s unclear if that’s what happened here. The home has been vacant for a while. #kingsmountain #gaston @wsoctv pic.twitter.com/McAzP8eRvq
Officials told Channel a mail carrier passing by spotted flames coming from the home and called 911.
When Channel 9 crews arrived, smoke could be seen billowing from the house, which is more than 100 years old.

Nobody was inside the home, but the property owner told authorities that he’s had issues with squatters in the past, though it was not clear if that played a role in the fire.
Several fire departments were called to help put out the flames and the fire marshal is still looking into how the blaze started.
