MONROE, N.C. — The story of Wingate Police Officer Eric Tallent is drawing more support, and now there’s a benefit motorcycle ride being organized to help the officer in his cancer battle.
The Ride for a Cause benefit will happen Feb. 15, featuring motorcycle riders from the North Carolina National Guard, the Union County Sheriff’s Office, and more. The goal is to help Tallent and his family as they deal with medical expenses.
Channel 9 profiled Tallent’s battle after he was recently diagnosed with an aggressive, incurable brain tumor. Now, his community is rallying behind him and his family to support them through his treatments. Officer Tallent works at a tight-knit Wingate Police Department with only seven officers on staff. His chief described him as someone who loves to serve.
You can join the benefit ride for $30 per person, and all proceeds will go to the Tallent family. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the American Legion Post 27, 700 N. Sutherland Avenue in Monroe.
Riders will start the trip at 10 a.m.
You can also help by supporting the family’s GoFundMe at this link.
