YORK COUNTY, S.C. — One driver was killed in a four-vehicle chain-reaction crash in York County near the Catawba River, according to the Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday on SC Highway 5 near Cureton Ferry Road, about 5 miles east of Rock Hill.

The driver who died was identified as 58-year-old Lloyd Logan, of Rock Hill.

Logan was driving a 2003 Dodge pickup truck south on Highway 5, troopers said. That truck hit a Chevrolet truck headed northbound which was driven by a 25-year-old Lancaster man.

The Chevy then went off the road and hit some trees. The driver of that vehicle was injured but the extent of his injuries is unclear.

According to the Highway Patrol, the Logan's truck then collided with a tractor-trailer that was also heading northbound. The 26-year-old driver of that tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries.

A fourth vehicle, another pickup, was sideswiped in the collision, troopers said, and the driver was not hurt.

The road was blocked for hours as emergency crews responded to the scene.

No charges have been filed in the crash.
