There is a new warning about a scam targeting Amazon customers this holiday season.
A viral email could let hackers get your credit card numbers and steal information from your computer.
[LINK: How to identify an Amazon email]
The email comes from a sender, who looks real and uses a fake but convincing Amazon logo. The header indicates Amazon officials can't identify your account, so it directs the receiver to click a link to verify information.
Officials with the Better Business Bureau say the link actually goes to another website. That site automatically starts installing programs on your computer, with viruses and a bot that copy every single one of the receiver’s keystrokes. That makes online banking and other personal information incredibly vulnerable.
The Better Business Bureau advises to never click on a link, even if the email looks legitimate. Instead, go to the actual website yourself and log onto the account to verify any information.
