YORK COUNTY, S.C. — South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating after three people died in two separate crashes on New Year's Day within minutes of each other in York County.
The first crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. on Eastview Road at Oakridge Meadows Court.
Troopers said a Ford F-150 truck was driving north on Eastview Road when it ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, and overturned.
Officials said the driver was wearing a seatbelt, but was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was later identified as 29-year-old Christopher Brame from Gastonia.
The second crash happened around 2:50 a.m. on Meadow Road near Bonnie Glen Road, just south of the city of Clover.
Authorities said a Chevrolet Astro Van was heading west on Meadow Road and a Mercedes Benz was heading east when the Mercedes crossed the center line, hitting the Chevrolet.
Troopers said both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, but died at the scene.
The drivers were identified as 34-year-old Jeremiah Hartley and 56-year-old Kristen Kale.
EMS transported an injured passenger from the Mercedes to CMC-Main, but there is no word on the passenger's condition.
Officials have not identified those who died in the crashes.
No other information has been released.
