SOUTH CAROLINA — A major tire manufacturing plant has furloughed hundreds of workers in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Giti Tire, which operates a 1.7 million-square-foot tire manufacturing plant in Richburg, S.C., sent a WARN notice to the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce on April 3 saying it would furlough 636 employees at the Chester County plant.
