COLUMBIA, S.C. — Last year’s teacher of the year in South Carolina is not happy with Gov. Henry McMaster’s guidance on the upcoming school year.
McMaster announced this week that districts have to provide two options for students -- classes that are virtual five days a week or are in-person five days a week.
Chanda Jefferson said she was part of Accelerate SC, the group tasked with coming up with a plan.
“I am not OK with students, teachers, administrators, bus drivers, or anyone in the school buildings being put into a position that could jeopardize their health, safety, or their lives,” Jefferson wrote in a tweet Wednesday.
>> In the video at the top of the page, Jefferson told Channel 9′s DaShawn Brown that she’s frustrated the governor went a different direction.
