COLUMBIA, S.C. — The North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh has canceled its 2020 event but across the state line in South Carolina, the state fair will happen this fall, although things will look a lot different.

This year, the South Carolina State Fair will host its first-ever, free drive-through fair Oct. 20-21.
There won’t be any rides, but visitors can see exhibits, crafts and animals from the safety of their car.
In addition, in a twist on the restaurant drive-through concept, festival goers will be able to drive into the Lexington Medical Center Fair Park on the fairgrounds and buy their favorite fair foods.
Corn dogs, funnel cakes and other fair food favorites will be available for purchase — with extended dates, Oct. 20-24 — via a separate drive-through that will have six lines, each with the same offerings in an effort to move guests through as quickly as possible.
“In the midst of the worst global crisis of our lifetime, we wanted to give the community something positive to look forward to,” General Manager Nancy Smith said in a news release.
The fairgrounds are at 1200 Rosewood Drive in Columbia, about an hour and a half from Charlotte.
Admission is free.
