AYNOR, S.C. — A South Carolina officer decided to do something kind for several young residents this Thanksgiving week.
Officer Wayne Llewellyn with the Aynor Police Department saw three cousins playing a game of catch Tuesday in their great grandmother's front yard as he was driving to work.
"I looked over in this yard and I saw three little children playing in the yard and then I saw them toss a pine cone," Llewellyn said.
The officer said he couldn't believe the children were playing with a pine cone, so he went to a nearby store and bought them a football.
When he returned, the kids were inside.
"He asked where the kids that were playing outside, if they were still here? I said 'yes sir', still looking at him, like OK. He was like 'can I speak to them?' He was very polite, so I did go inside and asked the boys to come out," the boys' grandmother DiNedra Smith said.
Officer Llewellyn said he didn't think twice about giving the boys a new football.
He said he would have done it even if he wasn't an officer.
