CHARLESTON, S.C. — The story of a puppy rescued from under a pile of rocks in Charleston has a happy ending.
The firefighter who rescued the German shepard mix has now adopted him.
The puppy was found Saturday by some bike riders who heard him crying beneath a pile of rocks.
After they couldn't free him, the cyclists called for backup and Capt. Paul Bryant responded.

The Charleston Animal Society Monday shared the reunion on Facebook when Bryant went to pick up his new family member.
The captain said the timing couldn't have been more perfect and he's looking forward to giving the puppy a stable and loving home.

"About three years ago, mine passed. We've been looking for a dog and it just wasn't meant to be. And this was just absolutely incredible doing the rescue and it was like the good Lord said, 'This is your dog,'" he said.
Bryant has named the puppy Rocky.
