SALISBURY, N.C. — Trees are scattered throughout a Salisbury neighborhood and cleanup will be extensive after strong storms hit the area Thursday night.
One large tree, in particular, toppled on top of a home on Mitchell Avenue, roots exposed. Thankfully, no one was inside when it fell.
Salisbury firefighters were very busy Thursday responding to dozens of calls of trees down, including along Caldwell Street, Fulton Street and Horah Street.
Neighbors told Channel 9 that the storm came in fast and did a lot of damage.
“The winds were coming in a lot of different directions,” Gretchen Forrest said. “So, I was wondering if there was more than just the rainstorm. So, I don’t know.”
Overnight, crews made progress in terms of cleanup, and most of the power was restored in the area.
