2 dead in Salisbury house fire, officials say

SALISBURY, N.C. — A second person has died after a house fire Friday in Salisbury, officials in Rowan County confirmed to Channel 9.

The fire started just after 7 a.m. on Duke Drive, which is located off Old Concord Road.

When firefighters got there, the sheriff’s office said first responders pulled two people from the house.

One person died on the scene. On Tuesday, officials said a second person died from their injuries. The victim’s have been identified as 31-year-old Matthew Wayne Bradshaw and 31-year-old Amber Louise Mowery.

“Fire [crews] did an excellent job getting here and locating victims and getting them out of the house as quickly as they could,” said Travis Allen of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.

Ch. 9′s Anthony Kustura could see investigators working in the area past 9 a.m. The State Bureau of Investigation was called in to help with the investigation, which is standard for a fire in Rowan County.

Traffic backups were reported near Peeler and Webb Road after the fire. It is unclear how the fire started.
