Nina Oliver has accepted another position as a public health director in North Carolina, according to Rowan County officials.

Oliver started as a dental health educator, a Preparedness Coordinator, then became a clinical program manager before serving as the Health Director in 2014.

“The past almost 18 years here have been very rewarding. I’ve truly enjoyed working in public health and managing a successful department dedicated to providing greater access to health care, health equity, and education to the Rowan County community. While I am looking very much forward to this new opportunity, I will miss the many community partnerships and friendships I have formed over the years,” said Oliver.

The Board of Health has named Alyssa Harris, Community Health Manager, to an interim health director role. According to officials, she will immediately begin the process of assessing the needs of the Health Department.
