ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A Rowan County commissioner was arrested Sunday for driving while impaired, according to the Salisbury Police Department.
Craig Pierce, 65, is accused of driving with a blood alcohol content more than three times the legal limit, according to an arrest report.

According to the report, an officer pulled Pierce over around 7:23 p.m. near the intersection of West Innes Street and Statesville Boulevard. He was then taken to the Salisbury Police Department where he reportedly took a breathalyzer test and blew 0.26. The legal limit is 0.08.
Officers charged Pierce with impaired driving. He was released to the custody of his wife on a written promise to appear in court on July 30.
Pierce was first elected to the Rowan County Board of Commissioners in 2012. He won a second and third term in 2016 and 2020, respectively.
