ROCK HILL, S.C. — Officials said a student was arrested at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill Monday morning after an unloaded handgun was found in a backpack.
This is the second time a gun was found on the school's campus this school year.

A classmate came forward to police with the tip.

The principal said no one was hurt or threatened with the gun.
This is just the latest case of a gun found at a local school this year. Police have found guns, loaded and unloaded, at Vance High in northeast Charlotte, South Iredell High School, East Union Middle and West Charlotte High School.
Police have not released the name of the student or what charges he could face.
No additional details have been released.
