Michael Robinson was driving home from his cousin’s house on Highway 5 in Rock Hill when a truck hit him and dragged him 200 feet down the street.

“I had my main artery cut, and I was just bleeding out on the side of the road,” he said.

The incident happened the day before his 21st birthday. He woke up in a hospital three days after the accident.

“I spent my 21st birthday in a medically induced coma,” said Robinson.

After a month in the hospital and emergency amputation surgery to his right leg, Robinson returned home to his family.

“They play a big role in keeping my spirits high,” Robinson said. “I’m just glad to be alive at this point.”

“I just let him know it’s going to be a process. He’ll never be the same but every day there’s progression,” said Chason Davis, Robinson’s brother.

Rock Hill police charged Brian Waters with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury. He’s being held on a $79,000 bond.

“It was a hit-and-run. My brother was just left on the side of the road. It’s not like he tried to help,” said Davis.
