ROCK HILL, S.C. — Tuesday was the final step in the tear down of the failed Panthers practice facility.
A crew with the City of Rock Hill demolished an underground piece of foundation from one of the former buildings.
All buildings were removed earlier this year.
The city took over the property in December after a monthslong legal battle in federal bankruptcy court.
The mayor told Channel 9 they haven’t made progress on a buyer. For now, they’re focusing on completing the road that leads from Interstate 77 to the property.
Rock Hill shared a statement about their progress on the site:
“Demolition of the site began in February with the buildings fully disassembled in May. Today’s foundation blasting is another step to prepare the site for future development. Given its location on I-77, the new interchange to serve the site, and the great business climate we’ve cultivated, we’re confident its future use will include a significant investment, high-wage jobs and amenities for our entire community to enjoy.
