ROCK HILL, S.C. — Police in Rock Hill said a 13-year-old girl who was reported missing by her mother was found safe.

Officials said Diana, who is an eighth-grader at Saluda Trail Middle School, was found hiding in her home on Thursday.
Tonya Clawson told police she had last seen her daughter Wednesday morning, around 5:30 a.m., before she left for work. When she came home that afternoon, her son was home but Diana was not.
The girl’s mother told detectives that her son had said that, when he and Diana were getting ready to get on the school bus that morning, Diana had said she needed to go back to the apartment to get something.
The boy got on the bus, but his older sister did not.

When Tonya Clawson got home from work she said she noticed the key that Diana uses to get into the house was in her bedroom, but Diana was not there. She also told police it looked as if someone had gone through Diana's bedroom.
Tonya Clawson also told investigators Diana’s school had not informed her that her daughter was not in class Wednesday.

“Call 911, call anybody because we need her home,” Tonya told Channel 9 reporter Tina Terry earlier Thursday. “We're worried about her because that's not like Diana. Diana would never leave home."
Detectives and school resource officers were following up on leads Thursday morning and Diana was entered into a database for missing children.
Officials said Diana was unharmed when she was found in the home Thursday afternoon.
