HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. — A ride at the North Carolina Mountain State Fair in Henderson County was shut down after an incident Saturday night, officials said, WLOS reported.
Fair officials said one of the braces broke loose from the Ferris wheel-style ride and fell into what they called the “bull pen.”
No one was hurt due to the incident, and crews were able to get everyone off the ride safely.
Officials from the fair said they fixed and inspected the ride and have state inspectors coming Monday to check the ride, as well.
"We’ve gone back over every one of them," said fair worker Mike Neighbors. "A new one’s been put in place, and we’ll bring in a nondestructive testing facility. They’re gonna inspect it and test all of them."
Fair officials said the state inspectors must clear the ride before they can reopen it.
The N.C. Mountain State Fair will be open until Sept. 15.
