Restaurant closing after 40 years

Fenwick’s (Charlotte Business Journal)

CHARLOTTE — It’s time for Fenwick’s to say goodbye. The cozy restaurant at 511 Providence Road plans to close in March after a 40-year run.

It has been a journey filled with patronage, friendship and support, says owner Don Rabb. Rabb is set to retire — yet the decision still comes with mixed emotions.

He and late wife Catherine opened Fenwick’s in 1984, after converting a Steak & Egg diner. Catherine Rabb died in December 2021 after a battle with cancer.

Don Rabb wrote a heartfelt post on social media about the closing, noting there hasn’t been a day since Catherine’s death when her absence hasn’t been felt.
