Restaurant bringing flavors from Japan set for long-awaited debut in uptown

CHARLOTTE — Saku Yakitori & Sushi Bar joined uptown Charlotte’s dining scene on Thursday.

The Japanese restaurant will soft open for dinner service via reservations only to start. Lunch service will launch soon.

It occupies the first two floors of Binaco Tower, a 13,000-square-foot, midrise building at 123 Fifth St. It is tucked between the Hearst Tower and Connolly’s Irish Pub.

It’s a project nearly three years in the making for owners Dao Nguyen, Sopha Lim and Richard Tang. Tang is also an executive chef.

They’ve invested $1 million-plus into the venture.
