CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Several restaurants are on track to open in the Charlotte market as the weather turns warmer.
That includes Bocado Bar + Diner, a new-to-market concept out of Atlanta that will take over the 2,700-square-foot space currently occupied by Big Ben Pub at Atherton Mill in South End. The acclaimed restaurant, known for its seasonally driven and locally sourced American cuisine, is set to open this summer.
Other establishments looking to open here in the spring and summer months include Pepperbox Doughnuts, which is adding a second bricks-and-mortar store in NoDa; farm-to-fork restaurant Heirloom, which is relocating to Belmont; and Margaritas Mexican Restaurant, which has signed on at the Rea Farms development in south Charlotte.
They’ll join restaurants that opened last month in the Charlotte area, such as The Eagle Food & Beer Hall and Biscuitville. The Eagle, also new to the Charlotte market, is now serving its signature fried chicken from a 5,000-square-foot space at Atherton Mill, while Biscuitville opened its third local restaurant near Concord Mills.
And a couple of uptown restaurants that were shuttered due to the pandemic are back. Stoke, located within Charlotte Marriott City Center, reopened in mid-January, and 5Church Charlotte on North Tryon Street is set to return this week.
