CHARLOTTE, N.C. — May brought with it the closing of a longtime South End establishment as Pike’s Old Fashioned Soda Shop shuttered its doors, but it may be only a matter of time before it opens another location in the Charlotte area.
In its Facebook post announcing the closure, Pike’s thanked customers for their support during the restaurant’s 20-year run at 1930 Camden Road in South End. The soda shop also said that an “announcement of our new location” would be posted on its social-media channels.
While Charlotte lost that staple in May, the area added a new nanobrewery in NoDa and a frozen sweets shop at Concord Mills — in addition to receiving confirmation of the local market’s second Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, which is set to open this summer at Park Road Shopping Center.
