Restaurant Bites: What's new and what's coming to a menu near you

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The culinary scenes in a couple of neighborhoods on the outskirts of uptown will grow shortly after the new year.

South End, for instance, is slated to welcome Hawkers Asian Street Fare in late January, marking the concept’s first location in North Carolina.

In the opposite direction of uptown, Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood will also add to its options of places to grab a bite to eat or sip on a cocktail. Room & Board has taken over the old Revolution Ale House at the corner of North Davidson and 36th streets, creating a neighborhood bar, restaurant and entertainment venue in a 6,500-square-foot space that has sat vacant for about 18 months.

But it wasn’t a new establishment that made the biggest waves among CBJ’s online readers last month. That was reserved for news that T-Bones on the Lake would close following 24 years at Lake Wylie after the restaurant entered into purchase agreement with the Bottle Cap Group, which will be taking over the space for a new concept.
