CHARLOTTE — Residents at The Block apartments in east Charlotte are worried about how long it’s taking for power to be restored to their community.
A car accident into a power pole around 1:30 a.m. Sunday left the complex without power, including air conditioning. With high temperatures sticking around for a large part of the day, Sean Stewart is concerned with how long it’s taking for the energy company to fix the power.

“There’s people in here that need air and there’s people that have oxygen machines. I feel like they’re fallen short on their response times,” said Stewart.
Duke Energy reported the estimated time of restoration will be 6 p.m., nearly 17 hours after the crash took out power.
According to Duke, the average estimated restoration time is three hours.
