CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Neighborhood leaders in Ballantyne hosted an event Saturday morning aimed at getting feedback from residents and business owners about the future of the area.
Dozens of people showed up to weigh in on the big changes coming to the area in the next few years.
One of the more controversial decisions is to take part of a local golf course and transform it into green space. It's part of the goal of making the area more urban and walkable.
“Ultimately, what we’re trying to do is open up an area of green space that is (now) open to fewer people and make it open to the whole community,” said John Barton, the president of Northwood Office.
Northwood owns and manages almost all of the 535-acre business park in Ballantyne.
