CHARLOTTE — Historic flooding devastated Riverside Drive along a stretch of the Catawba River in June and residents could be facing 3 to 4 inches rain Thursday.
Homeowners in the northwest Charlotte area that was hit are still recovering from that historic flooding that in many cases destroyed nearly everything they owned.
Duke Energy manages water levels in the area and officials said they’re moving water through the Catawba water system.
As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, officials said there are 66 billion gallons of available storage within the system, which is twice what they had before last year’s flood.
Homeowners said as they replace and repair their homes, they fear that a major flood could happen again.
“My grandson would love to have this home, and I would love for him to have it but now, I’m not sure if that’s going to happen or not,” one homeowner told Channel 9.
