GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gastonia resident was able to escape their home without injury when flames started to burst out.
The Gastonia Fire Department said the fire started Monday evening at a home on Dean Street. Pictures show heavy smoke and flames coming from the house.
Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Engine 2, Engine 5, Ladder 4, and Battalion 1 & 2 responded to this house fire on Dean Street this evening in Gastonia. The occupant of the home was able to escape the fire and was not injured. The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental in nature. #GFD pic.twitter.com/DZDXU2IsQE

Officials said the fire has been deemed an accident.
