CHARLOTTE, N.C. — U.S. News & World Report revealed its 2019 Best High Schools by Metro Area rankings last week, unveiling what it believes to be the top such public schools in the Charlotte area.
The methodology is the same used in the 2019 Best High Schools national rankings, which were published in late April. Six major factors were used in ranking the schools: graduation rates; college readiness; college curriculum breadth; math and reading proficiency; math and reading performance; and underserved student performance.
College readiness has the highest weight of the factors, accounting for 30 percent of a school’s overall score.

Marvin Ridge High in Waxhaw ranked as the top high school in the Charlotte metro with a national ranking of 368. It has more than 1,600 students enrolled from the ninth to 12th grade and earned a college readiness score of 63.9.
