CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A study stated the Democratic National Convention brought in nearly $164 million to the Charlotte area.
However, a federal report filed Thursday showed some companies are still waiting for the money to come in.
The report shows the DNC host committee owes $10 million. Most of that is in loans, but some of it is for businesses scattered across the country.
The biggest company waiting to get paid is Hargrove, an expo-company based in Maryland that puts on major special events like the DNC.
Eyewitness News called the company to ask if they normally have to wait months to get paid, but a company official said they can't discuss a client's financial matters.
The debt doesn't end there.
Eyewitness News searched the list for local companies, and found the host committee still owes the Charlotte Convention center $37,000.
A spokeswoman told Channel 9 that they have been paid.
Time Warner Cable Arena is still waiting on a check for $3,000, and they owe $2,700 to a security company called Show Pros Entertainment.
Political analyst Dr. Michael Bitzer said this really isn't that unusual.
"This is four years later, that Hillary Clinton is finally paying off her presidential debt. This is not unusual," Bitzer said.
WSOC tried to contact the DNC host committee to see when these companies will be paid, but every contact person from the event said they no longer work for the committee.
Eyewitness News tried to call the Democratic National Committee in Washington, D.C., but only got a busy signal.
