CHARLOTTE — The NFL’s chief medical officer said the Carolina Panthers’ recent COVID-19 transmission has been linked back “to some gathering of players outside the team facility” during their bye week.

“We’ve worked with the club on that,” Dr. Allen Sills said. “Worked with the involved individuals, and I think we’ll continue to see improvement there (with) repeated messaging” about what to do and not do away from the facility.
The Panthers could face a fine for their COVID-19 situation, according to “The Athletic” reporter Joe Person.
The team’s facilities were closed Monday and Tuesday after players were put on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
