CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A major new impact from the government shutdown is affecting employees at Charlotte-Douglas Airport.
According to a CNN report, Charlotte-Douglas Airport is seeing a 10 percent increase in TSA employees calling out from work.

They are just some of the hundreds of TSA workers across the country who have called out.
Union officials stress that the absences are not part of an organized action, but believe the number of people calling out will likely increase.
They say some employees are upset about working without pay and say they either can't afford child care and are finding cash-paying jobs to pay their rent.
"Having to work longer on position, not knowing how you are going to pay the mortgage, the car bill, your kids school," Jim Marinitti from the National Air Traffic Controllers Association said.

The National Transportation Safety Board is also impacted.
The NTSB said it will only investigate specific cases like accidents involving significant causalities and life and death emergencies.
