MORGANTON, N.C. — One person was killed and other serious injuries were reported in a single-car wreck near downtown Morganton on Thursday night, The News Herald reported.

The wreck happened around 7:30 p.m. on U.S. 70 at the intersection of Center and Tennessee streets. All four lanes of U.S. 70 between Center and Tennessee streets were shut down as first responders attended to the victims, Capt. Jason Whisnant, with Morganton Department of Public Safety, told The News Herald.

Crash victims were airlifted to an area hospital. No other information has been released.
